Alex Gidman says:

I am not a household name, Iím not a superstar, I never have been and never will be, but I had a really good, enjoyable 15-year long career in professional cricket. I played over 500 games, winning and losing both team and individual battles.

Having played my whole career at one club, something changed in August 2014 when I decided I needed to leave in order to try and achieve what I still wanted to from the game. It was a risk and although the decision was made with all the right intentions, what happened next was the biggest challenge of my career.

Once I had made that decision, I began keeping notes about what I was feeling and what I was going through in my own mind, my own words. It became my comfort, my diary.

This blog contains extracts and notes from that diary in a raw, ugly, grammatically incorrect fashion but itís the real story of what it can be like when a sporting career ends and what the hell happens nextÖ'
